Learn About Self Defense Training
Self Defense Training – Women’s Self Defense Methods
It’s obvious to say self defense training is for self defense. It is not for the purpose of damaging someone permanently or taking a life. It’s not about power or control. Rather, it’s about having the means to properly defend yourself if you ever find yourself in a dangerous situation. There are all kinds of methods of self defense. You can sometimes find self defense classes in your local area that are sponsored by a community college or a small business. Sometimes these classes are free. Other times these classes come at a small fee. The price and time that you commit to learning self defense depends on your individual needs as a person.
Women’s self defense training is especially common. There are certain overall programs that can count as self defense, such as martial arts and forms of boxing. However, women’s self defense programs are specifically geared towards teaching women how to defend themselves. Women are often the victim of aggressive crimes such as rape and mugging. There are several programs that are designed to help women defend themselves in these and other types of situations. One program is called RAD. It stands for Rape, Aggression and Defense training. It’s an international program with chapters located all over the United States. Other countries that host this program include the United Kingdom, South Korea, Switzerland and Canada.
Model Mugging is another self defense training program. This program has three levels: basic training, armed assailants and multiple assailants. It’s possible to order your training online and learn through DVDs and other long distance methods. The courses not only educate you on how to defend yourself, but why your assailants behave the way they do. They give you a basic overview of the way they think, and how to avoid situations where you may become a potential target. In addition to self defense, Model Mugging also teaches women empowerment.
Do you need self defense training? No one can answer this question but you. It is up to each individual to decide if they need to learn how to defend themselves. These training courses are usually more popular in dangerous areas where there is a proven record of crimes and violence against women. But self defense classes can serve other purposes too. They can help lift self-esteem. They can also help get a person active. And it’s a chance to network, meet new people and discover something new about yourself and the world around you.
