Chili con Carne Burgers
Chili con Carne Burgers Recipe:
¾ cup canned black beans, rinsed and drained
¾ pound extra lean ground beef
¾ teaspoon chili powder
2 tablespoons ketchup
¾ teaspoon ground cumin
¼ teaspoon kosher salt
1/8 teaspoon coarsely ground black pepper
4 leaves of green lettuce
4 hamburger buns, toasted
Your favorite tomato salsa
Directions:
Coat grill or broiler rack with cooking spray; heat grill to medium high heat for direct heat or heat broiler. In a large bowl mash black beans with a fork, until most, but not all, are crushed. Stir in ground beef, ketchup, chili powder, cumin, salt and pepper: mix to combine. Shape into 4-inch patties. Grill or broil for 10 minutes, flipping once, or until a meat thermometer inserted in the sides of the burgers measures 160 degrees F. serve on buns with tomato salsa and lettuce leaves. Makes 4-5 servings.
