Lamb Burgers

Lamb Burgers Recipe

Sauce:

1-cup plain fat-free yogurt

1 small cucumber, peeled and finely diced

1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh mint

Burgers:

¾ pound lean ground lamb

½ small zucchini, grated

2 tablespoons minced red onion

1 teaspoon dried oregano

¼ taspoon kosher salt

1/8 teaspoon coarsely ground black pepper

4 whole-wheat pita breads, warmed

Directions:

In a bowl, combine ingredients for the sauce, cover and chill. Meanwhile, coat a grill or broiler pan rack with cooking spray. Heat grill to medium high for direct heat, or heat broiler. In a large bowl, loosely combine burger ingredients. Shape into 3-inch patties. Grill or broil for 10 minutes, flipping once, or until a meat thermometer inserted in the sides of the burgers registers at 160 degrees F. serve in pita breads with the sauce on top or on the side. Makes approximately 4 servings.
